One Mans Campaign To Do The Christmas Dishes

I thought I would try to retell this story, it was an absolute classic

The Christmas holidays had arrived and people were driving in and were stopping at the office for directions to their site as was the normal procedure of every year here at the park.

The park was almost full, full of people who had come every year from the year dot.

There was and always is a few new caravaner’s who are absolute beginners, they had arrived safely without too much fuss, they has remembered to attach the level rides checked the air in the tyres of their car and the van.

They had done all the things that most well meaning friends or neighbors would say to do, before embarking on the yearly sojourn.

Finally at the park everyone was finally in, they all seemed to be at the same stage;

And in caravan terminology that’s called the settling.

It had been a busy day as usual and by circumstance I had a message to give to my husband who was down near the pool, so I walked down to get him.

We walked back to the office together and had just passed site 64 as a young ,man had just arrived, he hadn’t long stepped out of the car, his wife and child were lined up ready to enter the caravan and he was busy with the door.

My husband and I walked a little bit further only to hear a loud crashing sound coming from behind us, we looked around to see the man standing at the door of his van, by this time everyone around and within earshot had heard the crashing noise and they had stunned looks upon their faces.

The poor man and his family were looking dismally into the caravan and prober ably wondering where they could buy a set of dishes on Christmas day.

I then got a vacuum cleaner for him and realized, yes this will definitely be a memorable Christmas for his family!

A caravan tip has evolved from this story…… Always put plates, bowls, cups, glasses, and good crystal and all the really good Christmas settings in the bottom cupboard and make sure the doors close and are secure, or even better buy plastic or unbreakable sets and store glasses wrapped in newspaper. Anything heavy including pots and pans and tin produce should always go into the bottom cupboard and even padlocked.

Shenanigans at the park

New Year celebrations have been momentous this time round, starting with a stinking hot day the holiday makers soon got into the swing of things at Beach Park.
Family’s made their yearly pilgrimage up Beach Street to the Esplanade where the fireworks were to be set off. After waiting sometime people soon realised that the weather was indeed changing, within a space of half an hour clouds gathered overhead and it started to rain, a tropical storm eventuated and fork lighting was instead the only light show around.
People had by this time made their way back to the park in a flurry to get some shelter, they realised the fireworks were a no goer.
Mother nature certainly made up for the firworks, suddenly the lights went out in the park and candles and torches where the theme for the festivities in the barbeque barn that night.
New Years Day emerged slugishly late as a sleep in was the best medicine for most party animals.,apart from one,a lone possum who was pointed out that day, sadly fryed at the top of the power pole on the corner of Mckenzie Road and Beach Street.

Phillip Island Coastal Retreat

The Retreat is situated on Beach Street, Cowes
Currently we have 4 units completed with another 2 near completion with 5 still under construction, we are optimistic about being fully completed by 2010/2011.
Sorry for the inconvenience to any previous customers, but the project has been a lot bigger than we first anticipated.
Anyway we have 2 Double Story Lofts and 2 Studios available for the coming season.

All Seasons Caravan Club

All Seasons Caravan Club have again, for 30th time proved that the best place to join up with friends and enjoy the Christmas season is in the familiar surroundings of Beach Park.

Weather has been sunny and warm and a B.B.Q lunch was had, tonight’s event is a trivia night in the recreation room.

Wildlife Week

A beautiful day here at Beach Park; All lawns are looking nice and green, flowers in bloom, the park is looking great for the V8 Super Car weekend.
Weve had a wildlife week with one Koala being spotted near B.B.Q barn, he then scrambled across the sites and over to the otherside of the park.
He sat on the grass for a while letting everyone admire him, guests in the park were thrilled to see him and he wasn’t that shy at all.
Everyone managed to get some photo’s.
Then yesterday I found a lizard about a foot long heading towards a site and the panicked camper and I were struggling to catch him, he went under a car and out the otherside towards the rubish bins situated just near a tent, I managed to grab him with a tea towel and everone was relieved.
Our Banksia tree just near office had a small possum curled up on a ledge of a bough, he was sound asleep.

Koala Thursday

The weather here isn’t much today no sunshine!

Busy cleaning up after Cup Weekend, have had a mountain of washing to do. The Park is being mowed by 2 lawnmowers and the weather isn’t looking too startling I have noticed a lot of ants inside the house today and walking over my keyboard so this usually means the weather is about to change.

We ‘ve had some wandering wildlife in the park , a fury visitor who looked only about half-grown, he was stumbling along the top of the fence, he then came down and sat on the grass .

All the campers enjoyed the site!

Busy Week

This week have had a cycling group stay with us, they rode all over Island they then proceeded to Inverloch and they stayed there overnight.
They returned the next day early to mid afternoon! ( wow they are so fit ) they had a good time I think apart from one taking a tumble on a pothole down the Anderson hill.
I saw her walking slowly later on that day so I hope she is ok.
Beach Park had a star rating also this week which reflects the huge efforts of the team who maintain and polish park, so congratulations to all!

GP note! I would like to thank the person staying in the park who played Amazing Grace on the bag pipes, it was a beautiful rendition of the song and you truely gave life to it.
You are most welcome next time and thank you.

Busy week

A busy week at the park; Have had a Probus club and a Cycling group here this week.

The cyclists had a great day cycling all around the Island which then proceeded into an extremely long ride the next day up the coast to Inverloch staying the night there and back here the following day arriving early afternoon.

We have had a successful week with our park being star rated. The good results for Beach Park are reflected by the team of professionals that maintain and polish every part of the park so congratulations to everyone.

Congratulations also to Joy & Andrew on their new positions at Burleigh Heads Caravan Park Q.L.D!

Rain

A beautiful rainey day; I have been looking out my lounge room window for a while now, what caught my eye was a blackbird making a nest in the bougonvillia that is all over the front of house.
I have seen the new birds being fed by their mother,all day and everyday she goes out foraging for worms and things to feed the baby birds.
Yesterday was the first day for the birds to be out of the nest, they diddn’t go to far.
This morning I checked the nest and mother bird must have moved them overnight to a more secure spot which is good because I have worried about their position just off the drive way with the GP and all the traffic, so alls good back to work.
